11/14/11    11:00
Well it has been a snow week and we are out Monday for MLK day so this has been a long week in the house and starting to get cabin fever.  I was reading on discipline in the Love and Logic text and examining my discipline skills in the classroom.  I think one of the most important things that have helped me be successful is the fact of not always disciplining as soon as negative behavior occurs.  I have found it very effective to sometimes talk with these students individually following class or at another time to let them know that I was aware of the behavior.  Also you may become aware of extenuating circumstances that could have led to the behave occurring in the classroom.  This individual time may also give that students the opportunity to share their concerns and lets me foster those positive relationships with my students.
